Why I Subbed Moise Kean Against Man Utd - Ferguson

Duncan Ferguson has defended his decision to bring off Moise Kean - 19 minutes after he brought him onto the pitch.
The Italian youngster was brought on as a 70th minute substitute for Bernard when Everton were 1-0 up against Manchester United.

Mason Greenwood leveled the score and after just nine touches of the ball, Kean was hauled off and replaced by Oumar Niasse.
Caretaker Toffees manager Ferguson insisted though that there was nothing personal in his decision to bring the 19-year-old off.

In his post match interview he told Sky Sports: 'It wasn’t because of Moise Kean's performance, it was just because I needed to make a substitution to kill a bit of a time.

'I had so many attackers on the bench I just needed to make that change, it was nothing against Kean really.'

Kean who has previously been described as the 'future of Italian football,' joined Everton from Juventus for £27.5m in the summer.

Despite a reasonable scoring record during his time at Juventus, he has struggled to adapt to the Premier League and has failed to score in his 12 Premier League appearances - most of which have come from the bench.
Ferguson's decision to haul Kean off after just 19 minutes will only create more questions about his future at the club.
