Funke Akindele Bello (popularly known as Jenifer) is a Nigerian actress, producer and director.Born on August 24, 1977, Funke grew up in Lagos as her mother, a medical doctor and her father, retired school principal lived and worked in Lagos. She has two siblings and is the second of the three children of her parents.
Her full name is Akindele Olufunke Ayotunde but she openly agrees that she prefers it when people call her Funke Akindele, which sounds easy to pronounce and is a great name that can easily be associated with stardom and excellence.
She shaped her career in the media profession as a Journalist and actress after she received an OND in Mass Communication from the Ogun State Polytechnic. She went further up the academic ladder to pursue a law degree from the famous University of Lagos and wanted to pursue law as a professional career. She worked in Television for a long period of time and later switched permanently to the lucrative cinema world.
The Superstar came to limelight in 1998 when she played Bisi, a brilliant secondary school student, in the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) sponsored sitcom; “I Need To Know.” The comedy soap opera ran from 1998 to 2002.
She gained huge fame in 2009 for her role in the movie Jenifa Funke has over 100 movies to her credit as actress, writer, and producer. The first movie she directed is Your Excellence her hit banger in 2019.
Funke Akindele married a Nigerian rapper Abdul Rasheed Bello, known as JJCSkillz, in London in May 2016. Abdulrasheed Bello (born 4th of April 1977, kano) is a Nigerian songwriter, rapper, record and television producer.
JJC Skillz earned recognition in Nigeria after the release of his single We Are Africans, an afrobeat anthem. Prior to the success of We are Africans, Skillz was producer for the British hip-hop record company and musical group Big Brovaz In December 2002, he released his debut album, Atide, an experimental album with lyrics in English and Nigerian languages and influenced by hip hop, African and salsa musical styles.
He co-produced with his wife, Funke Akindele, Industreet a television show about the Nigerian music industry, JJC has three children with different mothers, in December 2018 Funke gave birth to twin boys for JJC Skillz.
Funke Akindele is one of those celebrities who fancy expensive clothes, bag, shoes and hair. Funke has refused to bleach her skin because she believes black is beautiful.
Over time she loves the hair style called fringe, probably because the hair style fits her best.
