Paul Pogba is intent on a swift return to action for Man Utd after undergoing ankle surgery on Tuesday with the World Cup winner already embarking on his rehabilitation.

The former Juventus midfielder went under the knife earlier this week after picking up a new ankle injury shortly after returning from a spell on the sidelines for a different issue.

Just over a day later, the France international could be seen tentatively taking the first steps on the road to recovery after being put through a series of exercises.

Wearing a Valencia shirt bearing the name and number of pal Geoffrey Kondogbia , the 26-year-old is seen having his ankle worked on by a physio using a medicine ball before completing some press-ups under the watchful eye of his young son.

The clips were uploaded to the Utd midfielder's Instagram page, with the first video captioned: "No time to waste, back at it again."

Pogba and Kondogbia are close friends, the pair having played together at numerous age groups for France.

They were roommates at the Under-20 World Cup in 2013, held in Turkey, when France emerged victorious.

However, Kondogbia never played an official competitive game for Les Bleus senior side, only appearing in friendlies and thus switched his international allegiance to the Central African Republic in 2018. Kondogbia, 26, has previously stated: "Paul is like a brother to me."

Pogba is set for a month on the sidelines and Solskjaer confirmed last week that it was a new ankle issue, rather than the one that had already seen him miss three months of the season.

“Paul came back after a long spell out, played in two games, had a reaction, and couldn’t go to Burnley .

"He felt his ankle was sore, so we did a scan. It’s not the same injury, it’s a different injury.”

With Pogba and Scott McTominay both sidelined, United are seeking to strengthen in midfield and have turned their attention to Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.
