How Tottenham Jinxed Man City With "The Mourinho Effect"

Tottenham defeated ten men Manchester City at the Tottenham stadium on Sunday.


Jose Mourinho side saw a second half counter attack hurt Pep Guardiola side who were reduced to ten following Oleksandr Zinchenko sending off.

Recall that Tottenham lost their star forward Harry Kane to a long term injury.


Although, Spurs didn't sign any forward in the January window but had to recruit Steven Bergwijn from PSV.


The club's new signing, Steven Bergwijn scored a superb volley on his debut and Heung Mi Son added the second in the 71st minutes.

Sergio Aguero Misses:


The Argentinian struck the post once and had his shots wide a couple of time. Aguero who is City's top scorer had decent crosses from the boots of Mahrez but he couldn't convert.

Gundogan Penalty Miss And Hugo Illoris Save:


Gundogan missed a penalty in the 40th minutes after VAR had given Manchester City a penalty after Sergie Aurier had tackled Aguero from behind.

Although, Mike Dean didn't whistle for a spot as he thought the Ivorian got a portion of the ball, but VAR brought back the decision after two and half minutes.

Serigo passed the ball for Gundogan to play the kick, but France goal keeper guessed right to save the kick.


Oleksandr Zinchenko sending off:


Oleksandr Zinchenko was handed a second yellow after he tried to stop a swift counter attack from Harry Winks. The Ukraine international thought it was a shoulder to shoulder badge, but ref thought otherwise.

Manchester City were reduced to ten, this hinder their attack from the flanks.


Harry Winks Effect:


Harry Winks held the midfield alongside Lo Celso and prevented Kevin De Bruyne from creating any damage. The English international dictated the pace most times with one eye on the Belgian.
