Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that leading striker Marcus Rashford will be 'out for another few months' and will not be part of England's squad for Euro 2020 if he cannot prove his fitness following troublesome back injury.
Rashford tweaked his back in the FA Cup against Wolves and Solskjaer's latest comments suggest he may play no further part in Manchester United's 2019-20 campaign.
'It'll be touch and go. It takes time,' Solskjaer said on Rashford.
'I'm not a doctor but I was hoping he'd recover quicker than it actually looks like he's going to be out for. He'll be out for another few months, definitely.'
'He had a scan and it was maybe more severe, the fracture, than what we hoped. He felt fine in the days after. It just takes that time to recover. It is important we don't rush him.'
The Norwegian boss was also asked for a fitness update on £89million midfielder Paul Pogba ahead of the Europa League meeting with Club Brugge, only to admit that the Frenchman is 'not anywhere near' returning to training with the rest of the first-team squad.
'He's not been part of team training yet so it'll depend on when he feels ready to do that,' he said. 'He's not anywhere near that yet.'
