The family of late Remo Stars’ assistant captain Kazeem Tiamiyu said they turned down the offer of a casket from the Nigeria Police Force as the late player’s remains were buried yesterday.
The late footballer was buried in his grandmother’s house located at 33, Temitayo Street, Ajaka, Sagamu, Ogun State.
Fasasi, the father of the late footballer, said the offer was made during the visit of the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, Force Headquarters, Mr Ogunyonwon Peter, earlier this week.
Fasasi said, “When the DIG visited my house to commiserate with me and my family over my son’s death, he told us that the police were prepared to meet our family over Kazeem’s burial plans and they offered to pay for the casket.
“However, we told them that Muslims don’t use casket when they want to bury their dead. The DIG was present when Kazeem was being buried but as his father I was absent because it is against the African tradition.
