Chelsea player Pedro has cleared the air on his contract situation with the club after reports of a departure from Stamford bridge emerged online.
The Spanish winger has been at the centre of things at the club with the former Barcelona star running into the final months of his contract.
Pedro has now clarified his position, stating that he wouldn't be accepting an extension at the club and would be playing his final season at Chelsea, a decision that has shocked football fans who hoped that his resurgence in the team would have earned him a contract extension.
Pedro Rodriguez, while speaking on his contract situation said: "I’m ending my contract (with Chelsea) this summer, but right now it’s not the most important thing, nor have I stopped to think about it"
"From there on what has to do with my future will come, but right now it’s not the most important thing when you don’t even know when you’re going to train again..”
Pedro joined Premier League champions Chelsea on a four-year contract for £19 million (€26.6M) on August 20, 2015, and on March 8, 2020 Pedro scored his first league goal of this season in the win over Everton. He had been scoreless in Premier League for more than a year, with the previous goal dated back to February 27, 2019.
Pedro has so far amassed over 201 appearances for Chelsea, scoring 43 times.
