Jurgen Klopp has revealed he was reduced to tears after watching footage of NHS staff singing You'll Never Walk Alone during the coronavirus crisis.

The video, shared on social media by Labour MP Mary Foy, shows a number of healthcare professionals working together to help tackle the escalating pandemic, before those involved join together for a rendition of Liverpool's anthem.

And an emotional Klopp, who has lead the Anfield outfit's tributes to those battling the virus on the frontline, hailed the NHS's heroic effort.

The NHS has been placed under increasing amounts of strain as the global health emergency begins to take hold, and the country paid a touching show of support for the 'Clap for Carers' campaign on Thursday evening.

Amid the outpouring of gratitude, Klopp is among those to have been touched by the life-saving intervention from healthcare workers.

'My English is not good enough to say,' Klopp told Liverpool's official website. 'It’s extraordinary, it’s great. I think yesterday I was sent a video of people in the hospital just outside the intensive care area and when they started singing You’ll Never Walk Alone I started crying immediately.

'It’s unbelievable. But it shows everything, these people not only work but they have such a good spirit. They are used to helping other people, we need to get used to it because usually we have our own problems and stuff.

But it’s their job, they do it day in and day out. They bring themselves, if you want, in danger because they help ill, sick and seriously handicapped people, so I couldn’t admire them more and appreciate it more, I really couldn’t.'

A host of football clubs have also expressed their own personal thanks to those working around the clock to combat the killer virus, with Klopp and his Liverpool stars uniting to send a heartfelt video to medical staff.

At the start of the four-minute tribute, Klopp said: 'Hello. Myself and the staff of LFC would like to take this opportunity to deliver a message to say thank you to all the incredible people who work in the health services, all the health workers, if you want, out there.

Klopp also lead Liverpool's messages to healthcare workers in a touching four-minute tribute

'It's unbelievable what you are doing and on behalf of all of us at LFC I would like to say thank you. Or how we would say in Germany, vielen dank.'

Klopp's message was followed by further tributes from each individual member of the playing squad, including skipper Jordan Henderson, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane.

The Premier League leaders are at home self-isolating as football is halted following the government's social distancing guidelines in a bid to prevent further spread.

Emotional watching this. So much respect for NHS staff at the best of times, but at the moment, putting their lives on the line to protect us from this virus, wow! Total heroes.
