But it’s their job, they do it day in and day out. They bring themselves, if you want, in danger because they help ill, sick and seriously handicapped people, so I couldn’t admire them more and appreciate it more, I really couldn’t.'
A host of football clubs have also expressed their own personal thanks to those working around the clock to combat the killer virus, with Klopp and his Liverpool stars uniting to send a heartfelt video to medical staff.
At the start of the four-minute tribute, Klopp said: 'Hello. Myself and the staff of LFC would like to take this opportunity to deliver a message to say thank you to all the incredible people who work in the health services, all the health workers, if you want, out there.
'It's unbelievable what you are doing and on behalf of all of us at LFC I would like to say thank you. Or how we would say in Germany, vielen dank.'
Klopp's message was followed by further tributes from each individual member of the playing squad, including skipper Jordan Henderson, Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane.
The Premier League leaders are at home self-isolating as football is halted following the government's social distancing guidelines in a bid to prevent further spread.
Emotional watching this. So much respect for NHS staff at the best of times, but at the moment, putting their lives on the line to protect us from this virus, wow! Total heroes. #YNWA #NHSHeroes
Klopp's men were poised to clinch their first league title in 30 years before football was brought to a sudden halt due to coronavirus, and had been 25 points clear of Manchester City at the summit.
