Paul Pogba makes pledge to Manchester United fans

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba caught up with teammate Jesse Lingard over video call during the country wide lockdown.




Paul Pogba has urged Manchester United fans to stay safe during the current coronavirus crisis. 


The French international whose future has been uncertainpledged to the help the club win trophies when professional football returns.


The Football Association confirmed the Premier League would be suspended until April 30 at the earliest with meetings set to take place next week to discuss how and if the remainder of the campaign will be finished.


Manchester United players are following individual fitness regimes at home under government advice to stay indoors.


Pogba caught up with teammate Jesse Lingard over a video call and delivered a message to United supporters around the world.


"Stay at home - stay safe," he said. "Keep supporting United.

"Hopefully things will get better very soon and we will get back to the game.


"Hopefully we can show you guys we are ready and we want to go back to win trophies.


"Stay connected, stay safe and we'll be back on the pitch soon."


Pogba discussed the 2017 Europa League triumph against Ajax that secured United Champions League football for the following season.


The Frenchman expressed his delight at lifting the trophy.

"I was so happy because that was what we wanted,” he said. "At the start of the season we wanted to win this and it meant we went through to the Champions League [the following season].


"It was our second trophy of the year and I was really happy.


"That’s what Manchester United is about: winning trophies.”
