It's been reported by media outlet that clubs have started considering pay cut as an option to players in order to sustain the club in this difficult times of coronavirus pandemic.

Recall that last week, Barcelona had tabled the pay cut of 70% to their players so as to be able to pay workers salary.

It was reported by Goal that Lionel Messi agreed to take the deal.

Meanwhile, Metro in the UK revealed that Tottenham Hotspur Chairman, Levi has informed the North London side while no longer pay player full salaries at he moment.

Leagues in he Europe has already been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Although, June is a temporary period the league is expected to resume.

Now, since clubs in Europe are beginning to adopt the pay cut, should the same model be adopted in the Nigerian Professional Football League, NPFL?

Recall that on March 18th, the League Management Company, LMC, announced the league will be suspended.

The league was suspended after 25 games being played, with Plateau United on top of the league.

Plateau United, the Jos based club lead the standings with 49 points.

There are suggestions that the LMC should announce Plateau the title and close the league, while some managers in the league not all clubs in the league have played same number of games.

Enyimba with 36 points have played 20 games, five short of others in the top four.

The argument of taking pay cut doesn't look realistic either, as players salaries ad transfer fees are not revealed in the NPFL.

All clubs except Ifeanyi Uba FC are owned by the State government, and most times, players salaries are being delayed.
