Coleen and Wayne Rooney with their four sons clap for NHS

Coleen and Wayne Rooney took part in a nationwide applause in honour of the NHS, police and key workers during the coronavirus pandemic on Thursday night.  

The couple, both aged 34, got together with their sons Kai, ten, Klay, six, Kit, four, and Cass, two, on their doorstep as they joined millions across the nation at 8pm to applaud the heroes across the country.

The family-of-six decided to wear matching pyjamas for the event with blue patterned bottoms and rainbow charity NHS T-shirts.

Posting a video of the family clapping, Coleen penned alongside it: 'Clap for our heroes ❤️ We are truly thankful for everything you have done and everything you are doing! God bless you all.'

Wayne also shared the same post, he added: 'Clap for our heroes. Thanks for everything.'

In the video, the couple's youngest sons Kit, four, and Cass, two, played on drums while older sons Kai, ten, and Klay, six, started dancing around while clapping.

Earlier this month, Coleen celebrated her 34th birthday surrounded by her adorable brood.  

Coleen shared a sweet black-and-white snap of herself and Wayne cuddling their sons in bed.

The image, taken the morning after her actual birthday on Friday April 3, saw the whole family smiling up at the camera as they prepared for yet another day in lockdown.

She penned: 'Good morning. Hope everybody is staying safe ❤️.' 

While Wayne also shared a snap of the family tucking into birthday cake, which he captioned: 'Happy Birthday @coleen_rooney. House party our boys it is!! ❤️.'
