Ajax crown Hakim Ziyech as best player of the season as he closes on Chelsea move

Hakim Ziyech wins Ajax's Player of the Year for 2019-20 season. 

The attacker has picked up the award for the third year in a row.


The 27-year-old scored 9 goals and provided 18 assists for the Dutch side in all competitions this season.

Recall that the football association in Netherlands have decided to cancel the season following the coronavirus pandemic.

Ajax were denied the title for the 35th time. Ajax have already won  34 Eredivisie titles and 19 KNVB Cups, since the league's inception in 1956.


Ziyech made his debut for Dutch club Heerenveen in 2012. He layer joined Dutch club Twente in 2014.

In 2016, Ziyech services was acquired by Dutch giants, Ajax on a five-year deal. He was signed for a reported transfer fee of €11m.

He made 111 appearances for Ajax, as he won the Eredivisie in 2018/2019 season, he scored 38 goals.

Ziyech time in the Dutch league has come to an end as he as completed a switch to England.

In February 2020, Chelsea paid €40 million to Ajax as the transfer fee for the Morocco international.
