Six times F1 champion Lewis Hamilton has edged former English footballer, David Beckham to become Britain’s wealthiest sports star.
According to the Sunday Times Rich List has found, Hamilton is worth £224million, up £37million in a year.
Beckham, 45, had raked in £200million jointly with wife Victoria by the time he retired from football in 2013.
Apparently, Hamilton, 35, and golfer Rory McIlroy, 31 — worth £170million after becoming world No 1 again — are the only sports names on the main Rich List.
Also, Heavyweight boxing king Anthony Joshua, 30, whose fortune is estimated at £107million, is the only non-footballer among them.
Real Madrid ace Gareth Bale, also 30, was named the richest young footie star with £114million.
