Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has reacted to reports that some Premier League players refused to turn up for training. 



It was reported by the media outlets in England that Chelsea's Kante and Watford Troy Deeney didn't shoe up for their session during the week. 


The English international has offered some words of support to N'Golo Kante and Troy Deeney. 

Recall that Premier League clubs returned to training this week in full groups. 

This came after an agreement was reached on Monday for stage one of Project Restart.


While speaking to Sky Sports Henderson said that every player must feel safe before returning to training.

"I fully respect their opinion and their decision to do that," he told Sky Sports.

"I think everybody is in a different situation with their family and at home. Ultimately, if you don't feel comfortable or safe, you shouldn't feel forced or pressured to come into work.

The Reds captain reportedly played a key role in the setting up the Players Together initiative. 

Watford skipper Deeney told the media he will not return to training due to fears over his child's underlying health conditions

Henderson continued: "I fully respect the lads that don't feel comfortable as of yet, and I hope that they respect my opinion and that of the other players who have come back.

"Everybody's situation is different but ultimately, for me, I feel very safe here at the training ground, otherwise I wouldn't be here. My teammates as well.

While Chelsea's Kante miss training due to a health scare two years ago, whilst his brother died off a heart attack. He was granted permission by his club. 


"I can only really speak for us, but I fully respect people in different situations who don't feel comfortable.

"If any of my teammates felt like that, I would fully support them and back them until they felt it was right to come back," he added.
