Manchester City winger, Riyad Mahrez says he close to joining Liverpool until the Reds went ahead to sign him Mohamed Salah.
Manchester City signed the forward in a £60million deal from Leicester City in 2018.
Incase you don't know, Salah started his senior career with Egyptian club El Mokawloon. He later joined Swiss side Basel for an undisclosed fee.
In 2014, Chelsea signed the Egyptian international. But he was sent on loan to Serie A clubs Fiorentina and Roma. He later signed for Roma on permanent deal for €15 million.
Salah made a second return to the Premier League to sign for Liverpool for a then club-record fee of £36.9 million.
Speaking in an Instagram live with DZfoot, the 29-year-old said: ‘Before signing at Manchester City, there was an interest in Liverpool for me, but as soon as they took Mo Salah, it was finished.’
Mahrez began his career as a youth player for French club AAS Sarcelles, a city where he was born.
In 2014, Mahrez moved to England to join then championship side, Leicester City.
He signed for English side and helped them win the Championship and promotion to the Premier League at the end of his first season.
He also won the Premier League title with Foxes under Claudio Ranieri in 2017.
Pep Guardiola's side signed the forward for Manchester City in 2018.
He has since won the Premier League, FA Cup and EFL Cup since he joined Manchester City.
