Rafael Nadal expects both the French Open and the US Open to be cancelled.
The world No. 2 from Spain, has not played competitive tennis since storming to an 85th career ATP title in Acapulco.
But 19-time Grand Slam winner Nadal believes they will be forced to follow in Wimbledon organisers’ footsteps and call off the remaining majors.
‘I hope so but I don’t think so unfortunately,’ Nadal told El Pais when asked if he expects tennis to return this year.
‘I would take being ready for 2021. I’m more concerned with the Australian Open than what happens later this year. I see 2020 as practically lost.’
He added: ‘My feeling and I say it sadly, I won’t lie to you, is that we’re losing a year of our lives.
‘And at 33, 34 years old, that is more valuable than at 20 when you have a lot more ahead.’
