Paris Saint Germain forward, Kylian Mbappe has been awarded the Ligue 1 Golden Boot for 2019-20 season.

Mbappe was level on goals with Monaco's Wissam Ben Yedder. The first two strikers scored 18 goals.

According to French outlet L'Equipe, Mbappe was handed the top scorer award ahead of Ben Yedder because he scored more goals from open play.

It was reported by the French media outlet that three out of Ben Yedder's 18 goals came from the spot while none of Mbappe's 18 strikes were penalties.

Also, Mbappe had a better goals-per-game ratio than Ben Yedder.

Mbappe goals-per-game ratio was 0.9 while Ben Yedder's was 0.69.

Recall that the former Monaco international won the Ligue 1 Golden Boot last season after scoring 33 goals in 29 appearances.

In 2017, he signed for Paris Saint-Germain on an initial loan, which was made permanent in 2018 in a transfer worth €180 million from Monaco.

PSG were crowned champions last week after Ligue 1 and 2 were cancelled.
