Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hailed the impact of Nigerian forward Jude Ighalo following his performance during Manchester United victory in the FA Cup.
The Red Devils sealed their ticket for the sà final after defeating Norwich City 2-1 at Carrow Road after 120 minutes.
Ighalo was handed a starting role as Solskjaer decided to rotate his squad for the game. The forward was lined up along with Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata is the attack.
The former Watford star gave Red Devils the lead after 51 minutes when he pounced on a cross from Shaw.
"It is great to have the option to rotate,” Solskjaer told BBC Sport. “Anthony Martial came on and did brilliant, but Odion gives me a chance to rotate.
"He's a proven goalscorer and played his part in both goals. He is a great person to have around the dressing room too."
Norwich got the equaliser after Todd Cantwell long range effort bat Romero in the 75th minute from outside the box.
The game was streched to extra time after 90 minutes of 1-1 scoreline, then captain Harry Maguire scored an extra-time winner as he fired home as the hosts failed to clear their lines.
Solskjaer continued: “Odion knows how much we value him in and around the dressing room; he’s a goalscorer, a poacher, he’s strong, we can play the ball into him, he showed for the second and Paul [Pogba] found him.
“It was very important (to keep him at the club), that was important for me and we worked hard to do it,” Solskjaer concluded.
Ighalo is yet to score in six Premier League outings for United this campaign but he has seized his opportunities during Cup games when called upon by his Norwagian manager.
The Nigerian forward signed an extension deal with Manchester United for a year from his Chinese club, Shanghai Shenhua.
Manchester United travel to Brighton and Hove Albion in Tuesday’s Premier League. The Old Trafford outfit are sixth with 49 points from 31 league games.
