Atletico Madrid defeated Deportivo Alaves 2-1 at the Wands Metro Politano on Saturday late kick off.
Saul headed Simeone’s side ahead midway through the second half, with Costa’s penalty ultimately proving to be the winner.
Although Alaves got a late goal, but Atleti held firm despite that late fightback from Alaves, who scored in stoppage time after Koke was harshly penalised for handball.
Atletico are now four points clear in third place, with four wins from their last four LaLiga outings.
Diego Simeone side travel to face Barca, who could only draw with Celta Vigo earlier. Alaves, meanwhile, stay 15th.
