Las Palmas announced the tragic death of youth player Jorge Sanchez Vaca on Sunday.
It was gathered that 17-year-old reportedly drowned along with another 15-year-old boy while swimming in the Canal de Orellana in Badajoz.
Jorge Sanchez Vaca is a player of the Canarian club's academy subsidiaries and was set to return for the 2020/2021 season to join the U19 side.
"One of the saddest days in the history of our club, we have no words to describe the pain that we feel at the moment," UD Jandia announced, the last club for which the youngster played for.
"UD Las Palmas is deeply saddened by the death of our former academy player Jorge Sanchez Vaca who, coming from UD Jandia, had planned to join our U19s next season," Las Palmas tweeted.
"We send our condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace."
