Liverpool were held to a scoreless draw against local rival on Sunday. The Merseyside derby was unable to produce a goal as both sides decided to share the points after 90 minutes.

Liverpool were unable to produce a clear cut chance during the game all thanks to Everton defense. Although the best chance of the game fell to Carlo Ancelotti side.

Richardson was played through on goal with less than ten minutes left on the clock , his first effort was block by Alisson Becker, only for the ball to deflect to the path of on rushing Davies who side footed across goal as Van Dijk tapped it for a corner kick.

Also, close range free kicks from Trent Alexander Arnold was well defended by Everton.

The manager, Jurgen Klopp beloved his side weren't too clever in the final third of their opponent half.

Speaking after the game, Klopp said: 'It was really tough, both teams showed that they understood it was a derby, even without the crowds. All players really lived the game, I liked our defending. We did not create enough chances for the possession that we had, nothing good where we had a free shot.

'They had the biggest chance - that is how it is. I have to admit that. Everton defended really well. They took care of Sadio Mane and Trent Alexander-Arnold and we were not smart enough a lot of the time. For this reason (to get a draw) we can be satisfied."

The sharing the point means Liverpool will need a point to claim the title. Liverpool will host Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday at 8:15pm GMT.

The former Borussia Dortmund boss added: 'The last few derbies here have been like this (three 0-0 draws). Each time, we have to fight like crazy. We have space for improvement when we come to Goodison Park. I also know we have more to give. A point is one we deserve.'
