It was gathered that Chelsea played a behind-closed-doors friendly against Reading at Cobham on Wednesday afternoon. This friendly is part of the move agreed by the Premier League clubs in order to get players back to full fitness.
If you recall that the league will resume back to action on June 17th following three months of suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Chelsea won against the Championship side by 1-0 after a first-half goal from Pedro settled the tie.
Following pictures published on Chelsea FC website, N’Golo Kante featured in the friendly.
If you recall that the France international was excused from training last month amid fears over his safety. This was due to reports that Kante’s family has history of heart related illness.
Apparently, Kante returned to full contact training earlier this week and was fielded in the friendly.
Meanwhile, long term injury players, Christian Pulisic and Ruben Loftus-Cheek returned and played 90 minutes.
If you recall that Pulisic is yet to hit the ground since he joined Chelsea from Borussia Dortmund last year.
Likes of Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Kovacic, Alonso, Giroud and Billy Gilmour all played their parts.
Also, Willian who has refused to extend his deal with the West London club showed flashes of what he was known for on the right hand side of attack. Willian is expected to leave once the season ends as he turned down a year extension.
