Everton vs Liverpool Merseyside derby to be played at Goodson Park

The Merseyside derby between Everton and Liverpool on Sunday 21 June will take place behind closed doors at Goodison Park instead of a neutral venue.

According to reports, the decision to play the game at the Club’s home stadium was made today by the local Ground Safety Advisory Group following positive discussions between the Club, Liverpool City Council, Merseyside Police, The Everton Fans’ Forum, The Blue Union, Liverpool Football Club and Spirit of Shankly.

There were suggestions earlier that the Merseyside would have been played in Southampton instead.

The official Twitter account of Liverpool states that they welcome the decision by the local Ground Safety Advisory Group (GSAG) to support football matches being played behind closed doors on Merseyside. And Liverpool get permission to play all remaining home games at Anfield
