Troy Deeney returned to action for Watford, playing 30 minutes of their win over Brentford

Watford fans can rejoice as their star captain has made his return. Troy Deeney returned to action for Watford as they beat Brentford 2-0 in a friendly match at Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.

It was gathered that The forward came off the bench for the final half-hour.

This comes after Troy only returned to training 10 days ago after he had initially registered his intentions not to resume training.

Deeney had made no secret of his reservations about returning to action, saying he was unwilling to risk the health of his five-month-old son, who has had breathing difficulties.

It's was Etienne Capoue who opened the scoring in a friendly against the Championship promotion hopefuls. He struck  an excellent strike from 25 yards, stepping forward unchallenged before firing into the top corner.

Watford got the second as Ismaila Sarr added a second in injury time.

This came after Joao Pedro crossed from the left-hand side and Sarr nipped in ahead of the defenders to poke the ball past Raya

If you recall that Brentford beat Arsenal 3-2 in a friendly at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday.
