It's been gathered that Lille and Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has been named winner of the 2020 Marc-Vivien Foe prize.
Osimhen has been in stunning form forchis clun this campaign. The former Wolfsburg star has scored a total of 18 goals and six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions before the season was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic
It was gathered that Osimhen faced competition from his country mate, Simon Moses (Nantes), and other African stars playing in the French Ligue 1 such as; Saint-Etienne’s Denis Bouanga, Montpellier’s Andy Delort, Monaco’s Islam Slimani plus Rennes’ trio of Mbaye Niang, Hamari Traore and Edouard Mendy.
Sharing the good news with fans, his club tweeted: "Nigerian forward Victor OSIMHEN won the Marc-Vivien Foé. The prize for the best African player in the French Ligue 1, the French football championship for the 2019-2020 season. Congratulations @victorosimhen9 !"
If you recall that Osimhen joined Lille from Belgian First Division A club Sporting Charleroi for am undisclosed fee. The Super Eagles star was brought in as replacement for Nicolas Pepe who joined Arsenal for a clun record fee of £72m.
Osimhen guided Lille to a fourth place finish.
