Arsenal yet to sort the future of their captain and top forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The former Borussia Dortmund finished the 2019-20 season with 22 league goals and was one short of top scorer Jamie Vardy of Leicester City.

Aubameyang has been prolific in front of goal for the north London side, recall that he scored twice as Arsenal defeated Manchester City in the semi final to seal a ticket in the final.

Arsenal will face their London rival in Chelsea at Wembley stadium on Saturday, August 1st 2020.

Although, the coach of the north London side, Mikel Arteta has backed his captain to extend his stay at the Emirates stadium.

Mikel Arteta says that he is convinced Saturday’s FA Cup final will not be Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s final game for Arsenal.

It's understood that Aubameyang has just one year left of his contract with Arsenal.

Speaking ahead of the cup final, Arteta said: “No, I don’t have those thoughts

“Don’t forget he still has a contract here with us. We want to keep him and do it more long-term. But at the moment he is with us and I think he should be really proud of where he is as well.”

Arsenal finished the season in eight position and were ten points away from top four spot. This means that the Gunners only chance to seal a ticket for Europa League is to win the FA Cup.

The Spainsh international praised the Gabonese international qualities.

He added: “Absolutely. I think that has a strong link with everything that you want to experience as a player

“Winning a trophy helps to really believe and make you feel 'wow, I want more of those moments as well'.If you are wearing the armband and you are able to lift that cup, it is such a moment and this is going to help for sure.”
