Manchester United missed out in their chance to move into the top four spot following their draw against Southampton.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer side conceeded a late goal to share the point against the Saints at Old Trafford on Monday night.

Haven seen their rivals in Chelsea and Leicester both drop points over the weekend, Manchester United going into the game were on 68 points and were trailing fourth placed Leicester by one point.

United fell behind in the early start of the game when Southampton capitalized on Pogba error and Armstrong scored.

Twenty minutes after, Anthony Martial assisted Marcus Rashford to grab the eqialiser before the French man added the second for Manchester United.


Speaking after the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said he's side didn't deserve to win the game following their performance.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer told Sky Sports: "You've just got to take it because we've won so many games that way ourselves. It's all part of the learning for this team to be sat there, really disappointed, after you think the three points are in the bag."

He added: "It's the worst time to concede a goal but that happens in football.

"But probably we didn't deserve three points today. They played well. They're physical, very fit. We never got the rhythm in our passing, especially when we got to 2-1 but we created chances and played some fantastic football at times."

Manchester United were down to 10 men following a late head injury to Brandon Williams during the game after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had completed his substitution.

The result meant that United missed the chance to move third which has left them in fifth place.
