Jones then came off the bench and scored his first Premier League goal just four minutes later with a volley past Reina.
Liverpool are back to winning ways and can still go for the record points total in the Premier League with just five games remaining.
Next up for them is a trip to face Brighton and Hove Albion. Villa remain in the relegation zone after that loss, still one point behind Watford.
They face another tough test next time out as well when they host Manchester United.
