Liverpool were stunned at the Emirates stadium last night as they fell like a park of cards against Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta had started his too striker, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang from the bench, and made five changes following the 2-1 loss to Tottenham last week.

Coming into the game for Jurgen Klopp, he called up former Arsenal's star, Oxlade Chamberlain after captain Jordan Henderson has been ruled out of the season.

The former Arsenal player tested keeper, Emiliano Martinez once with a powerful long range effort.

Meanwhile, Arsenal fell behind after Saido Mane found the back of the net from an assist by Andy Robertson.

Two errors from Liverpool saw Arsenal score two goals in the first half.

The Gunners who are in the race for a spot in the Europa League got the equaliser in the 32nd minutes when Reiss Nelson pressed Virgil van Dijk to make an error back pass which Alexander Lacazette pounced on to round the on rushing Alisson Becker.

Just before half time, Alisson Becker made his own error with a poor pass and Lacazette took advantage as he squared to Nelson who finished well to make it 2-1.

Meanwhile, van Dijk had taken to his Twitter page to react. He accepted his mistake but remains hopeful that Liverpool can get good results in their remaining two games.

He tweeted: "Mistakes happen. That’s part of football. But it’s how you react to them that matters. Two big games to go, let’s finish strong! Can’t wait for next Wednesday! 🏆🏅"

The result moves Arsenal to ninth with 53 points and are three points away from the Europa League spot.

While Liverpool loss dents their hopes of surpassing Manchester City 100 points record.
