The 32-year-old Slovenia forward has starred for Gian Piero Gasperini's side this season, scoring 21 goals in 34 games including five in seven in Europe.
According to reports, the 32 years old caught his wife allegedly cheating after he travelled to Solvenia to be with her.
La Repubblica and La Gazzetta dello Sport hint that Ilicic is suffering from depression.
Coach Gian Piero Gasperini had said this week “the more time passes, the more unlikely it is we’ll see Ilicic” play against Paris Saint-Germain on August 12.
The club has let him go to Slovenia to regain serenity and strength.
