The highest competition in European football is set to resume back to action this week. Although, there are four games left to play in the UEFA Champions League before the quarter final.

Likes of Manchester City vs Real Madrid, Lyon vs Juventus, Chelsea vs Bayern Munich and Barcelona vs Napoli are yet to complete their second leg ties.

Former Manchester City forward, Emmanuel Adebayor has given his opinion of the clash of Manchester City against Real Madrid.

Pep Guardiola will host Zinedine Zidane side at the Etihad Stadium on Friday night.

According to Adebayor, the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo would be important miss for Real Madrid. Recalled that the Portuguese left Real Madrid in 2018 to join Juventus.

Speaking to AS, he said: “If you had asked me that question 2 years ago, I would have said yes Madrid can turn the fixture around.

“Madrid would have been favourites with Cristiano. Back then, they had Cristiano, who’s a goal machine. He can make the difference at any moment, and he would give the team 50 goals a season"

Manchester City won the first leg 2-1 against Real Madrid at Santiago Bernabeu which Sergio Ramos was sent off.

Adebayor previously played for English clubs Arsenal, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

He also played on loan with Real Madrid in 2011, he made 14 appearances and scored five goals.

He added: “They lost the first leg at home, and it is going to be very difficult without the fans, against Manchester City, the city, the weather, but it is not impossible.Madrid have players with a lot of experiences like Marcelo, Benzema and Courtois, and they’re used to playing in big games like this one.

"Without Cristiano, Madrid know what they have lost, but maybe not what they could have won if he was still there.I think maybe they thought they would get another player like Ronaldo, but players like him only come along once every 200 years"
