Lionel Messi beat Ronaldo to become highest paid player in the world

It's understood that the rivalry between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo will continue until these two retire from the game of football.

Despite Ronaldo leaving Spain to Italy to play for Juventus, fans of both stars still pair them against each other during argument of the "best footballer in the world."

Earlier today, the France Football has revealed the list of highest paid footballers in the world.

Meanwhile, the top 10 best-paid players in 2019 sees Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi leads the pack with a whopping £500k per week salary which saw he cash in £120million last year.

While Cristiano Ronaldo comes in second placed with £688k per week salary at Juventus, as he made £109million.

Paris Saint German star, Neymar made £87m last year as he was ranked in third position. He was followed with Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale who received £35.45m. 


Meanwhile, Barcelona's Antione Griezmann and Eden Hazard made the tip five spot.

Manchester City star, Raheem Sterling is only player from the Premier League who made the cut in seventh place. While Bayern Munich top scorer Robert Lewandowski was also the only player from the Bundesliga who featured.
