The Ligue 1 champions confirmed the 46-year-old German sprained his left ankle with a fracture of his fifth metatarsal during a session of sport on Thursday evening.
The news comes as another concern, with midfielder Marco Verratti joining Kylian Mbappe, Layvin Kurzawa and Thilo Kehrer in being unavailable for the game.
The Italian international sustained a calf injury after colliding with team-mate Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in an intra-squad game on Tuesday, according to French outlet L'Equipe.
Meanwhile, Mbappe is recovering from the sprained ankle he suffered following a challenge from Loic Perrin in the final of the Coupe de France against Saint-Etienne on July 24.
German defender Thilo Kehrer was also injured in that same final and went off early on in proceedings, while Kurzawa has been suffering with thigh issues since last week.
In addition, midfielder Angel Di Maria will serve a one-match suspension for the one-off quarter-final against Atalanta, after the Argentine picked up a yellow card back in March against Borussia Dortmund.
