Mikel Arteta has moved to replaced Emiliano Martinez who left the club. The Argentine international completed a 20m pounds deal to Aston Villa.

Recall that Martinez was in goal post for Arsenal while they clinched the FA Cup trophy following semi final clash against Manchester City and 2-0 win against Chelsea in final.

He stepped up after Bernd Leno was injured in June, but the German is back and Martinez seems unhappy to return to second goalkeeper.

Earlier today, Arsenal have completed the signing of Iceland international Runar Alex Runarsson.

It's been gathered that the goalkeeper signs on a four-year contract from French club Dijon for a reported £1 million (€1.1m/$1.3m) move.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Alex to our squad,” said Arsenal technical director Edu. “We have been monitoring him for some time and from the analysis, he has strong attributes that we look for in a goalkeeper and as a person.”

Runarsson spent two seasons with Dijon, where he made 13 appearances for the French side in all competitions last season.

Manager Mikel Arteta added: “We want to create healthy competition for places and we look forward to seeing Alex bring further depth to the goalkeeping position.”

He previously played for KR Reykjavik in his native Iceland as well as Nordsjaelland in Denmark.

It's been reported that he's expected to be available for Arsenal's Carabao Cup clash with Leicester on Wednesday.
