The future of Mesut Özil remains uncertain at the Club. The German international is currently on a 300,000 pounds per week weekly wage bill and he's currently in his year of his deal.
Özil seems frozen out of the team due to reasons best known to the manager. But the German international has admitted that he wants to see out his remaining contract with Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta has revealed that it is "very difficult" for Mesut Ozil to break back into his team at the moment. The Gunners have been revitalize since Arteta was named manager.

He has won the FA Cup last season and beaten Liverpool to lift the Community Shield.

Fans of the north London have shown concern as Mesut Özil wasn't named in the Gunners Carabao Cup squad that defeated Leicester City on Wednesday night.

Speaking on the absence of Ozil from his team, Arteta said: "The team is evolving, you can see the level they are achieving.

"This is where we are at the moment. We want to evolve more and play better and compete better. We need to keep maintaining that.

"I'm really happy with the performance here, how difficult they're making things for the coaching staff to select the squad."

The 31-year-old hasn't play for Arsenal following the 2019/20 season's restart in June.  Ozil last appearance for the Arsenal came on March 7 2020.

Arteta added: "We are picking the players that we believe are the best for each game. You can see we keep training, it's what we're trying to do.

"You can see that the players we are changing, we are using, it's very difficult every week - not [just] for Mesut - but for some other players as well to make the squad. Every week we try to pick the right players.

"Of course I understand and I respect your questions, but I have to try to do my job as fair as possible. I try to select the players that are, in my opinion, in better condition."

Arsenal will travel to Anfield stadium to play Liverpool in their Premier League game.
