Mali hands Adama Traore first international call up ahead of October friendlies

It appears that Adama Traorè has been caught up with making two important decisions. It's understood that these decisions could snap his future as a footballer.


The power playing winger has carve a niche for himself after his great experience with Wolverhampton in the league last season.

He's speed and muscular body build has threaten lots of defending in the league.

It's been gathered that Traorè has been named in Mali’s senior squad for the first time.

Although, he's an African by lineage but was brought up in Spain where has played for the under age side of Spain.

Wolves winger is set to feature for Mali international friendly against Ghana and Iran next month.

If you recall that Traorè was previously named by Luis Enrique in August for the Uefa Nations League matches against Germany and Ukraine.

He pulled out after testing positive for the coronavirus and returned to his club.

Mali have called upon former captain and legend Frederic Kanoute to help convince the player.

Kanoute who played for Mali during his spell as footballer picked the African side ahead of France despite being brought up in France.

"If he is listening to me right now - I am heading your way, Adama," Kanoute told BBC Sport.

"The Mali FA has called me to say, 'Please, please go and see him because you speak perfect Spanish so you can convince him,' and so on."

Kanoute added that he would love to watch the speedster play for the African side in future. But admitted it will not be an easy task to convince him to play.

He said: "I would like him to [play for Mali] but I will tell him the truth that it is obviously going to be a struggle and that it is not going to be so comfortable to play for an African national team.

"But the people give you back so much and he has the opportunity to make something big with a very, very talented generation that we have in Mali, so I will try to convince him."


Also, Mali call-up is Everton new signing Abdoulaye Doucoure, Moussa Marega, Southampton's Moussa Djenepo ahead of the friendlies.
