Manchester United were stunned by Crystal Palace at Old Trafford outfit. It was a 3-1 defeat at home for the Red Devils.



It was the first time that since 2014 that they lost their first fixture of the season. This came under manager, Louis van Gaal in his first game in charge against Swansea in 2014.


Wilfred Zaha scored twice against his former side before Andy Townsend scored the opening goal.


Manchester United pulled a late goal back from Donny Van Beek when he came from the bench.

Meanwhile, Luke Shaw who was doubtful for the game started for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The English international has urged the club to bring in more players into the squad.

Manchester United have only been able to sign only one player. Donny Van De Beek joined from Ajax for £40m.

The Dutch is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer first signing so far in the summer window despite been linked to several players.

“We have a very good group, but personally I think we need more players to strengthen the squad,” Shaw told TV2.

 “It can give us a boost. When you look around at how other teams are strengthening their teams, then we must also do it to keep up with the others."


It's been gathered that Manchester United are still in pursuit for Jadon Sancho which Borussia Dortmund are holding on to a fee of around 120m pounds for the forward.

Manchester United are unable to meet the transfer fee due to coronavirus pandemic which has affected financial situation of many clubs.

United were also linked with James Maddison of Leicester City and Jack Grealish of Aston Villa who have both signed new deals at their clubs respectively.
