Mesut Özil has been in the spot light since the league restarted back in June. Mikel Arteta joined the club in January after Unai Emery was sacked last year December.
The club faced poor performances under Unai Emery second year spell at the Emirates stadium. He was shown the exit door as the club faced themselves in the second half of the table.

Mikel Arteta came on board and called back Mesut Özil into his team, the German played a lot of games under Arteta but the season was halted due to coronavirus pandemic.

The season restarted in June and Özil has been frozen out of the team. The German is the club’s highest-paid player, who earns £350,000 ($453,000) a week.

Although, Mikel Arteta has been able to reveal the reason the former Real Madrid star hasn't featured in the team.

According to Goal, Mesut Özil wasn't included in the squad. The German and centre-back Sokratis have been informed they will not make the squad.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos was one of the players who was told to find another club, but he wasn't able to find another club as he's currently injured.

Just so you know, Premier League rules state that Arsenal must submit their 25-man squad by 2pm BST (9am ET) on Tuesday and it must include a maximum of 17 non-homegrown players over the age of 21.
