Christian Pulisic was named in the starting XI as he was expected to lead the attack along side Ziyech and Tammy Abraham. But just before the game kick off, it was reported that the former Borussia Dortmund star picked up an injury during warm up. He was replaced by Timo Werner.
Although, this emergency change didn't alter Frank Lampard formation as the Blues cruise to 3-0 win against Sean Dyche men. The West London outfit looked comfortable all through the game.
Recall that Pulisic missed Chelsea's first three Premier League games of the season due to a hamstring injury, which has been a concern to Frank Lampard.
He came on the second half of Chelsea's4-0 win at Russian side Krasnodar in the Champions League in midweek and netted the final goal of the game in stoppage time.
Speaking after Burnley win, the English boss remains optimistic that the injury isn't too serious as they await scan.
"He felt something on his hamstring," Lampard told the BBC. "We tried to manage him in midweek, but we’ll see what happens in the next 24 hours. We’re talking minor, nothing serious."
Hakim Ziyech opened the scoring just before half time as he set up by Tammy Abraham and the Moroccan left footed low drive beat Pope.
In the second half, Kourt Zuma and Timo Werner wrapped up the win.
Lampard also revealed that Pulisic was frustrated and would need a scan on his hamstring.
"Christian had a small sensation in his hamstring, so we had to pull him," Lampard said. "He couldn’t play the game and he felt that in part of the warm-up.
"We will have to scan it, he is frustrated as he got fit and we rested him in the week where he comes on and scores. He is so keen to do well for us but we have to scan him and see how it is so I can’t give you a time on that."
