It's understood that the former Real Madrid star played last game for Arsenal in their 1-0 win against West Ham last season just before season was suspended in March.
He didn't feature in the Gunners last eight games of the 2019-20 season, as well as their semi final and final games against Manchester City and Chelsea in the FA Cup.
Coming into this season, it's been reported that Mikel Arteta has omitted Mesut Özil from Arsenal's Premier League squad as well as their Europa League Squad for the season.
The German international has been frozen out of the squad but the manager stated that he left Özil out due to football reason.
But the German has continued to encourage his players during their games, including their home game against Leicester City.
Arsenal will host the Foxes at the King Power Stadium on Sunday night. The game will kick off at 8:15pm.
Taking to his Twitter page, he captioned: "Ok, Gooners. A little warmup for tonight to get in the mood for the big clash against @LCFC 😎🍿 #YaGunnersYa #M1Ö #goodmemories @Arsenal @premierleague"
