Barkley's stunning late strike earns Villa a 1-0 win away at Leicester. Both teams had the odd sight of goal prior to that, with Martinez producing the best of the saves to keep out Tielemans, but it was left to Barkley to settle the contest when he picked out the bottom-left corner from 25 yards in the 91st minute.
Smith's side have now won their opening four games to a league season for the first time since 1930-31, when they went on to finish second. That is the position they find themselves in after this late victory, one point off top spot with a game in hand to play on Everton.
