Arsenal fans have been singing the praises of Thomas Partey since he moved to the Emirates stadium. The box to box midfielder completed the move to Arsenal on deadline day from Atletico Madrid.

He was handed the jersey number 18 and he has brought stability to the midfield of Mikel Arteta side so far.

The Club has lacked "steel" in the midfield as they are yet to find a good replacement for former club's captain Patrik Viera.

It seems Partey seems to be in the mode of Viera and Arteta has been deploying him in that role for the Gunners.

Apparently his progress at the club was hindered after his injury. It's been confirmed that Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is set to have a scan on a suspected thigh injury suffered.

The injury came during Arsenal's loss to Aston Villa at Emirates Stadium.

It was gathered that the former Atletico Madrid star managed to play just 45 minutes at Emirates Stadium before being forced off during the break and replaced by Dani Ceballos.

The Gunners lost 3-0 as Ole Watkins double and Buakyo Saka condemned Mikel Arteta side to a defeat against Dean Smith side.

When asked about the severity of Partey’s injury after the game, Arteta said: “I don't know. As I said, the doctor will have to have a look at him and probably scan him. Then we will decide what to do with him.”

The injury means that Partey ha5heen ruled out of Ghana squad for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers which is expected to come up this week.

But the manager revealed he could stay at London Colony as the Club would like to monitor his progress.

“We don't know [whether he will withdraw],” he added. “We have to scan him tomorrow or the day after and see what he felt straight away. Let's wait and see what the magnitude of the injury is.”
