Nigerian fans were left stunned following the shocking result from the national team of Nigeria African cup of Nations qualifiers match against Sierra Leone.
The qualifers game which was played in Benin on Friday evening behind closed doors got fans aroused following the first half result.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria raced to a four goals lead early in the first half, as Gernot Rohr side showed some counter attacking display.

It was the Sierra Leone stars had no idea of how to deal with Eagles forward line, as Alex Iwobi opened the scoring under four minutes with a fine finish from the edge of the box. The Everton star went ahead to grab his brace with another impressive strike.


While Napoli star Victor Osimhen and Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze found the back of the net before the half-time break as Nigeria where looking comfortable going into the break.


In the second half, it was a different game entire as Sierra Leone came back with a different plan on how to counter Eagles as they captialise on every opportunity.

Al-Hadji Kamara started the comeback for Sierra Leone as they scored four times to share the points as the game ended 4-4 after 90 minutes.

This result left a bitter taste on the mouth of many Nigerians who watched the game from the comfort of their homes.
Meanwhile, Alex Iwobi has taken to social media to apologise to the fans for the result, as he assured fans the team will work on getting a positive result in the second leg.

“[I am] deeply disappointed, we’ll work to put things right,” Iwobi posted on Instagram.


Gernot Rohr men will travel to Freetown for the second in two days time.

Although, Nigeria still maintain their lead in Group L with seven points from three games, following victories over the Republic of Benin and Lesotho in November 2019.
