Liverpool Premier League title defense isn't going according to plan with players being hit with injuries.
If you recall that Jurgen Klopp side ran away with the Premier League as they wrote their names in history books as they clinched the title for the first time in 30 years.
But this season, Jurgen Klopp has seen some senior players pick up injuries and the Borussia Dortmund boss might need to figure out a way out once the season return to action next week after the international break.
Recall that Virgil Van Dijk is out of the season after the Dutch international picked up an injury during a tackle by Jamie Pickford in the Merseyside derby against Everton.
Also, Fabinho who has been drafted into the centre back position has also suffered an hamstring injury.
While Joel Matip has been struggling with match fitness.
It was reported that Gomez went down during a training session at St George’s Park on Wednesday.
According to Goal, the 23-year-old could be out for the season and this will not be a good news to Liverpool fans.
Meanwhile, Liverpool have announced on Thursday that Gomez had undergone surgery on a tendon in his knee.
A club statement read: "Liverpool Football Club can confirm Joe Gomez has today undergone successful surgery to repair a tendon in his left knee.
"The centre-back sustained the injury during a training session with the England national team on Wednesday. The issue was isolated to Gomez’s tendon, with no damage to any other associated knee ligaments."
The club added that the youngster surgery will enable him correct the damage of the injury as he has started his rehabilitation process.
Although, no time frame have been given for his come back.
The statement added: "The operation to correct the damage, which took place in London on Thursday morning, was a success and the 23-year-old will make a full recovery. Gomez will begin a rehabilitation programme with the Reds’ medical team immediately, with club staff carefully monitoring his progress.
"No timescale is being placed upon his return, though the issue is likely to rule him out for a significant part of the remainder of 2020-21."
