But the club has picked up two victories on the bounce, the first was a 1-0 win against West Brom last weekend and 4-1 thumping of Istanbul Basaksehir during Champions League mid week game.
This week, it's an away trip for Solskjaer's men. Manchester United travel to St. Mary's stadium to face Southampton.
The game which will kick off on Sunday at 3pm GMT.
Meanwhile, the manager spoke to the media earlier today ahead of the game.
Solskjaer revealed that Paul Pogba will be unavailable due to a knock. It's understood that the French man has aggravated the injury he suffered during international break.
He missed the game against West Brom and Basaksehir.
According to reports Paul Pogba did not train on Friday. And Scott McTominay was missing from the training.
“Scott (McTominay) and Paul (Pogba) didn't train this morning, weren't on the grass so look very unlikely for the weekend,” Solskjaer said in his pre-match press conference.
Solskjaer also revealed that trio of Victor Lindelof, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Marcus Rashford, took part in some light training this morning at the club's training center after they were withdrawn during their Champions League clash in the mid week.
The manager also revealed that Jesse Lingard has completed his self isolation due to COVID-19 regulationsand might be available for selection.
While Luke Shaw is struggling with an hamstring problem and he's not expected to feature in the game.
He said: “Marcus (Rashford), Victor (Lindelof), Aaron (Wan-Bissaka) came through the session today so not 100%, Luke (Shaw) has just started his rehab out on the grass but is not back with the team yet, Jesse (Lingard) is back from his isolation period and has had a couple of days training and Phil Jones is out until after Christmas sometime.”
Solskjaer also said he also have selection issues every match day due to the pool of players he has at his disposal.
“I feel very happy with my squad,” the United manager said. “We are getting stronger, I have issues every week with an 18-man squad: who do I leave out? We're in a good position.”
Solskjaer went ahead to hint that Edinson Cavani and Donny van de Beek could get their Premier League first start against Southampton on Sunday.
Recall that Van De Beek joined from Ajax and Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer window.
“They’ll both be available to play and I'm sure if they do they'll be capable again,” Solskjaer said.
