It's the second week of international break as football fans have shifted attention to support their countries in their various national team competitions.
For Africa, it's the ongoing qualifiers for spot in 2020 African Cup of Nations which will be hosted in Cameroon next year. 


Many have often criticised the Confederation of African Football, CAF, in the past for their lack of organization and preparation. One could say what happened to the national team of Gabon was another example.

It was reported that the Gabon national team were forced to sleep in an airport ahead of an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Gambia.
According to reports from Goal, Gabon were set to West African country in Bakau on Monday and they arrived at the Banjul International Airport late on Sunday night.

Unfortunately, they were delayed at the airport due to some protocol issues. 

Meanwhile, the Gabon national team captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang went on his social media space to express his frustration. 

The Arsenal forward shared snaps on the early hours of Monday of his team-mates lounging around in the airport.

His post reads: read: "Still waiting to enter Gambia, and we play at 4 pm. Nice."

The former Borussia Dortmund star later revealed that they were allowed into the country, just 10 hours before their scheduled kick-off.

"Finally in the bus. Thanks for the extra motivation, Gambia," Aubameyang wrote.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who scored over the weekend in their clash against Gambia noted that the affected travel delays heading into Monday's match wouldn't affect his team's motivation.

But went ahead of urged the football governing body for African football that there should be proper plans come 2020.

“This will not demotivate us but people need to know and especially that Caf takes these responsibilities. In 2020, we want Africa to grow and this is not how we're going to get there!!," Aubameyang tweeted.


Recall that Gabon defeated Gambia 2-1 in their third Group D it was goals from Denis Bouanga and Aubameyang that made sure that the they remain top of their group with seven points after three matches.
