It was confirmed on Friday afternoon that Barcelona's captain had won the award, for all that he does to help people off the pitch.
"I'm truly honoured to be recognised as a fair player and for my social commitment with the Champion for Peace award of 2020," Messi posted on his Instagram page.
"Thank you to Peace and Sport for this beautiful acknowledgement."
