Jurgen Klopp says He's unsure whether Liverpool will sign a defender this January window

Liverpool have been hit with injuries to their key players in the squad, especially at the defense.

But Jurgen Klopp has managed to keep the Reds on top of the Premier League table. 

Liverpool are already without their central defenders in Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez on long term injuries.

Recently it's been gathered that Joel Matip has suffered a groin and will be out for three weeks. 

This means youngster Neco Phillips will play along with Fabinho in the defense for the Reds. 

Jurgen Klopp has stated that he isn't sure if the club will sign defenders this January window. 

Asked about signing this January transfer, Klopp told reporters: “We have solutions in the squad obviously but we struggled still with injuries. For most of the time with centre-half position, it can happen like this - when it starts, it does not stop.

“We have solutions with the squad but if we can do something in the window, I don’t know. It is like that."

Liverpool are in action on Monday, January 4th with an away trip to the St Mary's stadium to face Southampton. 

Jurgen Klopp might have to rotate the squad for the game due to fixtures congestion. 

Klopp added: “It is a very difficult transfer window, as you can imagine. Not all of the clubs have real money. Just doing something makes no sense. Doing the right thing makes sense. So far, we have really liked what we have done.”
