Arsenal midfielder is closing in on his return from injury. It's been gathered that Thomas Partey might be available for Arsenal in their FA Cup clash next week.

This was revealed by the manager, Mikel Arteta after his side's 4-0 comfortable victory against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

Goals from Kieran Tierney and Bukayo Saka as well as Lacazette's brace ensured that Arsenal move to 12th in the league standing while Sam Allardyce West Brom side remain in the bottom three in the table.

According to reports gathered, Mikel Arteta has remained confident that Thomas Partey will be fit for the Newcastle game.

The Gunners who were the holders of the FA Cup last season will begin the cup defense with a home game against Newcastle next weekend.

The 27-year-old Partey has only managed 278 minutes of Premier League football due to injury.

If you recall that the former Atletico Madrid man limped off against Tottenham Hotspur in December 2020.

Although, he has resumed training with the first team as pictures showed at London Colney last week.

Whether Partey will be fit for FA Cup outing against Newcastle United on January 9, Arteta said: “Well, he hasn’t trained fully with us, but he has done most parts of training in the last few days.

"He’s feeling good and we will assess him if he needs another two or three sessions to see if he’s 100 per cent available to play"

Recall that Thomas Partey joined Arsenal on deadline day transfer in the summer window for 45m pounds from Atletico Madrid.
