Bayern Leverkusen stars, Lars and Sven Bender announce plan to retire at end of the season

This comes as a sad news to all Bayern Leverkusen fans following reports that their twin stars set to hang their boots at the end of the current campaign. 
It's been gathered that Twins Lars and Sven Bender have announced their retirement at the end of the season. 

The Bayern Leverkusen stars, at 32 years old, playing their 12th in the Bundesliga – will now close the curtain on club football.

They reportedly cited health reasons behind their decision to hang their boots.

Just so you, Lars and his brother Sven began theit football career with 1860 Munich but they went to separate clubs at the start of 2009/10 campaign, Lars moved to Bayern Leverkusen and Sven joined Borussia Dortmund.


But after seven years, Sven took the decision to join his brother as they reunited once again at the BayArena.

Following a, joint statement from the Bender twins which states: “Everyone who knows us knows that we give 100% every day. That was always the basic requirement for us.


They added: “This decision has been anything but easy, not least because of the honest, fair and understanding relationship with the Leverkusen club management in the past and right up to today. Bayer 04 now have time to plan and that was important to us.”

Just yesterday, the club also confirmed the sacming of their manager Peter Bosz. This comes after 0-3 defeat on Sunday at Hertha Berlin over the weekend.

It's been confirmed that Germany U18 coach Hannes Wolf will take charge of the team until the end of the season, with Germany U19 assistant Peter Hermann stepping in as his assistant coach.

Meanwhile, Leverkusen are currently sit sixth in the Bundesliga table.
